The Creative Director is responsible for developing persuasive, engaging and creative strategies, campaigns, and materials and must be able to successfully present ideas and concepts to technical or non-creative people in an understandable manner.
He or she will work as an individual contributor and/or manage other designers and communications professionals as ENC’s work load requires. This individual will be responsible for managing the creation and implementation of online and print deliverables such as websites, static and animated banners, mobile applications, interactive applications, videos, print publications, exhibits, brochures, advertisements and animation.
Incumbent must have an impressive design portfolio that includes a balance of print and online work, and should be an experienced presenter who is energetic, enthusiastic and entrepreneurial.
Management
• Provides performance evaluations, coaching, mentoring, training, guidance and creative direction to other graphic designers or subcontractors to ensure a focus on teamwork, initiative, creativity and innovation, high level customer service, follow-through and on-time delivery of internal and external projects.
• Develops, manages and maintains third party vendor relationships. Creates and maintains preferred vendor and subcontractor lists to enhance departmental services
• Creates and implements systems to improve productivity and manage ENC’s digital assets.
Print and digital graphic design
• Uses strong visual storytelling and typographic skills to communicate business cases utilizing the creation of infographics
• Produces compelling brochure, direct mail, datasheet and similar designs; possesses an understanding of print production to include choosing paper types, preparing files to send to press, press checks, designing for unique mailer boxes, etc.
• Creates short, animated videos using FinalCut Pro or similar products — this position requires regularly animating 1- to 2-minute videos based on storyboards; must be able to create ‘whiteboard-style’ graphics and animate to voiceovers and music
• Develops and communicates the creative direction of projects with initial sketches, rough comprehensives or low-res wireframes and high-res designs or mockups
• Develops logos, style guidelines and other elements of visual branding systems
• Develops strategically creative PowerPoint presentations
• Creates precise, pixel- and point-perfect designs
• Optimizes print files for 4-color process reproduction
• Develops illustrations, diagrams and charts for use online and in publications, proposals and presentations
Client and account team interface
• Meets with clients, understands their expectations, suggests ideas and options, then develops creative approaches that help them meet their business or mission goals
• Adds insightful and strategic value to creative work as well as client requests; takes initiative to make design projects better and whether they are strategically helping to accomplish a goal throughout the design process
• Presents creative concepts to clients, ensuring that they understand the thinking and value they represent
• Responds efficiently to client requests, revisions and changing requirements
• Delivers all work products on schedule and on time
• Maintains and organizes creative files consistently using SharePoint
• Assess web design and development requirements in order to estimate level of effort for proposals and pricing
• Develop information architectures, user interfaces/experiences, wireframes, high-res mockups and graphics for websites
• Use adaptive/responsive techniques to optimize website display and content for smartphones, tablets and desktops
• Independently develop small HTML and CMS websites from start to launch (and can articulate the process)
• Have experience with: HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, ASP, Perl, databases, hosting/web server administration, content management systems (Drupal, WordPress, Joomla, ExpressionEngine, .NET or other), SEO
• Know how to comply with Section 508 of the Americans with Disabilities Act
• Have worked with a creative agency
• Have worked for or with government, technology, energy, financial services or association organizations
• Develop apps
Other Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
• Excellent oral and written business communication skills
• Proven ability to multitask
• Must be flexible and enjoy working in a creative, collaborative environment
• Must be able to demonstrate attention to detail and quality
• Strong organizational skills
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, FinalCut (or similar software) and Microsoft
• Relocation expenses will not be provided
