Position Type:
Full-time
Position Reports To:
Director, Copywriter
Position Description:

Located in the greater Washington D.C. metro area, Sage Communications is a full-service marketing communications and public relations agency that provides a unique fusion of public relations, advertising, marketing, branding, social media, interactive, and event management services. Our clients range from startups to Fortune 500 companies, non-profits, government agencies, healthcare and pharmaceutical companies, professional associations, and consumer-oriented organizations.

If you know how to craft attention-getting content, then we want to talk with you. We are actively seeking top-notch creative and technical writers who understand technology, B2B, and public sector marketing. The copywriter is a key member of our multidisciplinary team and a driving force behind our original content programs. As an imaginative collaborator with the ability to create compelling content, you will have the opportunity to create campaigns geared for success.

We work in complex fields with unique cultures where you must quickly grasp new terminology, understand new technologies, and switch voices and mindsets without missing a beat.

Here’s what we’re looking for…

An experienced strategist, creative problem solver, and bold thinker who is energized by the challenge of researching, analyzing, and understanding diverse business and technology audiences and designing content programs to engage them. The writer who joins our team will work on multiple client accounts, from enterprise technology giants to government agencies, associations and business services companies. She or he will produce impeccable content that captures nuanced voices and messaging, delivers valuable insight to the intended audience, and builds loyalty around the client’s brand. The ideal candidate is also a skilled editorial manager with extensive experience ensuring that project deliverables are on-brand and meet the quality standards of the agency.

We’d really like to find writers who can develop content for both the traditional and digital worlds — ads, brochures, campaign collateral, website copy, blogs, videos, white papers, case studies and more. If you have experience with editorial writing including by lines, feature stories, thought leadership pieces and other press materials, well, that’s even better.

Qualifications:

  • Work closely with our cross-functional teams to develop concepts and copy on assigned projects, ensuring language is original, compelling, engaging, and aligned with design and graphic elements
  • Communicate complex technical concepts to target audiences in a clear and interesting manner
  • Collaborate with our creative, interactive, marketing, and PR teams to create marketing copy, fact sheets, editorial content, advertising copy, and more
  • Drive continuous process improvement to discover efficiencies and make recommendations within the copy department to improve offerings and capabilities

Requirements:

  • 6+ years of progressive work experience with demonstrated accomplishment in crafting content campaigns for leading technology, business, and public sector organizations
  • A B.A./B.S. degree in marketing/advertising, communications, journalism, English, or a related field
  • Strong copyediting and proofing skills — attention to detail is critical!
  • Demonstrated experience in a fast-paced agency environment
  • Passion for designing and implementing multi-channel content programs for diverse audiences
  • In-depth understanding of marketing strategy and content marketing best practices
  • Knowledge of government IT and defense marketing — a huge plus
  • Understanding of, and experience writing about today’s top technology issues — cloud, big data, cyber security, health IT, C5ISR, etc.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit and positive can-do attitude
