Position Description: 

The Account Director will provide program management for internal and external strategic communications programs including client relations, campaign strategies, team management, budget management and growing business within accounts.
The ideal candidate will have experience working one-on-one with corporate communications and C-level executives.
Job Duties:

Account Management

• Ensure client relationship(s) are maintained and held in the highest regard; provide excellent customer service at all times.
• Working with the account team and others within ENC (such as Creative Services), manage dozens of ongoing projects simultaneously, including marketing plans, advertising spends, public relations, customer research, market analysis, branding and messaging, marketing collateral, websites, social media campaigns, video productions and more.
• Successfully build and manage a team of experts to support ENC’s clients, to include day-to-day execution of client tasks as well as managerial duties such as: conducting employee performance reviews, approving timesheets, etc. Candidate must be able to demonstrate leadership and staff management experience.
• Manage to project budgets and maintain a strict amount of discipline on the use of client hours without compromising client satisfaction. Continue total awareness of the status of invoicing, project burn rates and other factors related to the financial health of the account(s).

Client Strategy

• Demonstrate previous strategic communications subject matter expertise in conjunction with ENC’s senior executive team, including the VP, Strategy and Creative, and the Senior Director, Communication Services, to develop measurable, effective communications strategies and tactical deployment plans for our clients.
• Lend expertise and insight to the account team’s manager- and coordinator-level specialists to help create print and digital campaigns that accomplish clients’ overall objectives.

Tactical Deployment

• In addition to managing the account and helping to set strategy, this role will be expected to assist with the implementation of communications plans (creating content, conducting focus groups, facilitating messaging or other planning sessions, setting parameters for and proofing client creative deliverables, etc.). Incumbent must be able to speak to their ability and experience with hands-on work in like areas.
• Oversee and contribute to the creation of large amounts of purpose-driven and copyright protected/compliant content to be deployed via print, outdoor, broadcast, online and mobile campaigns.
• Establish metrics for all marketing activities; create easy-to-understand dashboards and reports; measure and analyze performance to ensure communications programs produce desired results.

Business Development

• The Account Director is expected to provide excellent client service and constantly be on the lookout for new opportunities within his or her accounts. The successful candidate will have a history of growing business within accounts.
• The candidate will be able to demonstrate an ability to serve as a trusted advisor to clients and maintain long customer relationships by providing superior work product and collaborating with customers to evolve and deploy new marketing programs.

Qualifications: 

• Previous experience in a creative agency managing full-service strategic communications strategies, activities and campaigns for a large client and/or experience as a senior-level communications executive within a large organization.
• Experience overseeing both print and digital campaigns;
• Experience with brand roll-out or leading or participating in rebranding a publicly traded company, ideally in a regulated or non-regulated energy sector
• An understanding of STEM markets, various technologies and implications of regulations on marketing
• Experience managing mid-sized marketing teams and mid- to large-sized budgets
• 10+ years of experience in marketing, communications, PR or a related field
• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, public relations, communication, journalism or related field; Master’s degree preferred
• Experience managing the media buying process nationally
• General working knowledge of public relations and online media relations resources such as Vocus
• Excellent oral and written business communication skills
• Proven ability to multitask and apply strong organizational skills
• Must be flexible and enjoy collaboration
• Must be able to demonstrate attention to detail and quality
• Advanced knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel
• Must be able to travel regularly within the D.C.-metro region to client sites
