The USO and Williams Whittle Gear Up Efforts for More Air Time January 9,2008
This month Williams Whittle, the Alexandria-based advertising agency of record for the USO, launches the USO’s new public service announcement (PSA) campaign. The spots remind Americans that the USO is the way to support the troops. The campaign, the latest in a series introduced in 2003, has become one of the nation’s most successful PSA programs, netting more than $126 million in media value to date.
The new TV spots tell the USO story from the lens its vital volunteer network and all they do to support the troops. The spots are being distributed to media in the DC region and in top markets across the country. In order to get free airtime, William Whittle and the USO are courting station decision makers through media luncheons and personal outreach initiatives. The combination of old fashioned relationship building and the production of high-quality PSAs has been the cornerstone of the campaign’s success.
